I have had my Yahoo e-mail account for several months. A couple of
weeks ago, a strange thing happened. I used to go to the sign in page
and it would only ask me for my password. Now it asks me for both my
username and password. There is a box you can check so that your PC
will remember your login, so you only have to enter your password. I
check that box every time, but it still routes me back to the full
sign in page.

I did not change any of my browser settings, including cookies. I am
signing in at the standard (rather than secure) level. The problem
happens regardless of what computer I use to log in, so I don't think
it's related to my PC. I use Explorer 6.0, for what that's worth.

A search on Yahoo's help pages did not yield much. They even have a
link from the log in page that says something like "click here for
sign in help," but all it does it reload the sign in page...not much
help there.

Any ideas?

Try the following:
1) Delete all "yahoo.com" cookies. Click here for instructions:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;278835
2) Go to Yahoo! mail http://login.yahoo.com
3) Sign-in as before and check box "Remember my ID on this computer"
Let me know if this works (?)

jackburton ~

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it and unfortunately it did not
remedy the problem. Even restarted Windows and it's still happening.
I also tried deleting all temp files. Still stuck.

Which page are you using to sign in to Yahoo! Mail? Do you point your
browser to http://mail.yahoo.com , http://login.yahoo.com ,or
something else? I point my browser to http://mail.yahoo.com and
haven't had this problem, so I suggest trying that.

Sorry I'm just now responding....I was out of town all last week.
Anyway, yes, I use mail.yahoo.com as well.

Do you use Yahoo Messenger? I do, and when I am logged in to it, and I
go to Yahoo mail, it only asks for my password.

Nope, I don't use Messenger.
