My wife and I are seniors, we take a lot of medicine - we are always
running out because we can't keep track of when to order - can you
think of any scheduling program (in MS works?) or other that will
allow me to key in the date received, & the number of pills taken in
a day to come up with a date I should reorder and display it
automaticaly when I boot up? (The insurance companies sure know the
answer!) Thank you

Hello yenarc-ga,

According to my understanding you and your wife wish to find a tool to
remind or alert you to reorder medications. You describe a type of
software product, but would any of the small gadgets at the following
web site suit your purposes? These are pill dispensers that can keep
track of medications taken and when to reorder. See: www.epill.com
I shall post this as an answer if it in fact works for you.

Best wishes,

vitalmed-ga

Hi yenarc,

I've done a fairly thorough search for you. Most of the
medication/prescription reminder programs are made for TAKING
medication, not for remembering refills.

For refills, it seems each manufacturer of has it's own email refill
reminder service. Here are some examples:

Ditropan XL® Refill Reminder Registration
http://cgi.ditropanxl.com/reminders/reminders.pl?type=refill&step=1

The "Refill Reminder" program FOR MIRAPEX
http://www.mirapex.com/consumer/reminder/refill_reminder.asp

PROPECIA® E-Mail Prescription Refill Reminders
https://www.enrollperks.com/baldness/enroll_perks/perks/scrip_reminder/form.jsp

It is VERY likely that the drugs you are taking will have this service
available. Is this something you'd be interested in?

The other possibility is that the pharmacy where you buy your
medications could have a service. Many do.

One last possibility is for you to order your prescriptions online.
Typically they have reminder services as well.

If you want to try the email reminders, please list all your
medications so I can get you the right links. Also, the city where you
live, and specificaly the pharmacy you use...

Hello yenarc,
If you can do the calculation of the date to order, there are many
free programs that will give you a pop-up reminder on the date which
you choose. I searched for "date reminder pop up" and quite a few
choices came up. I don't know which you might like best.

Thank you, my fiends, I guess what I want to do is to be able to set
up a work sheet, showing the date received, and whether I am allowed a
30 day supply, or a 90 day supply of medicine, and take into
consideration some of it is at the local pharmacy and some is out of
state which requires 10-14 days before I will receive it - After the
calculation I want to be able to have the information pop up when I
boot up. I don't want much do I!

If you are willing to do your own calculations and enter the data
manually as needed, there is a feature in Microsoft Outlook called
Calendar that offers pop-up reminders set to go off the dates and
times you specify. These will pop-up at the prescribed times you
decide with an optional audio alert (like a "ding") and the reminder
will come on the screen (in your case) telling you what you should do,
what to take, when to take it, when to order, and what to order, who
to call, etc.

Let me know if this answers your question.
