I am researching Syracuse NY and would like to have an answer back
within 10 days. I am interested in learning the names of companies
that, either by relocation or expansion, are expecting and/or claiming
to increase their Syracuse workforce by at least 500 employees over
the next 24 months. I already have researched "DestiNY USA" and have
spent considerable time researching
WWW.SYRACUSE.COM , WWW.SYRACUSE.NY.US/ECONODEV,
WWW.THEBUSINESSRECORD.COM, web site(s).

Hello -

The answer is most likely "none", as I have learned from a very
formidable source in the area. However, I can verify this by
contacting every major company in the area. If none of them are
planning on expanding, would this suffice as an answer?

Secondly, if you're interested, I could furnish you with a list of
companies that are expanding in the area by any number of employees --
or perhaps 50 or above.

Please let me know if either of these are viable options.

More stuff I found from my fumbling around:
New York Power Authority trustees Tuesday approved three allocations
of low-cost Economic Development Power to Central New York companies
that will create 500 new jobs at the Industrial Park at the former
Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome and add 200 new jobs in the Onondaga
County communities of Cicero and Warners.

Sooo o o. . . I would suggest expanding/changing to Onondaga County
and 150 or more new jobs

More like work than fun
Thanks

You might also want to contact the mayor's office and/or chamber of
commerce for Syracuse to see if they know anything helpful.

My family is from around there. Most of my friends/collegues have had
to move away (as in out of state) due to a poor economy and a less
than favorable job market. I think that the county idea is good, and
the 150 employees idea is good... but the bottom line is that Syracuse
isn't exactly booming. I'll be surprised if you come up with more than
5-7 companies using your new criteria. If you do, the likelihood of
those jobs being anything other than low-end skilled labor is minimal.
Seriously. Upstate NY is not the place to be expanding a business.
Businesses of considerable size in NY are being romanced by other
states and towns with the hopes that they will relocate and provide
jobs to their unemployed skilled workers, hopefully with a lower tax
base than what's offered in NY.

(Not a google researcher either... but someone smart enough to get out
of there when I still had the chance. I never regretted it a minute.)
