I just inherited support of an intranet website. The menu system on it was
built with the examples from: http://www.brainjar.com/dhtml/menubar/

The problem is the menu is built for Internet Explorer 5.5+, and I
need to now support 5.0+. Can you point out what parts of this menu
might fail in IE 5.0, and a way to either code around it, or replace
the menu system.

I am very open to replacing the menu with another with a similar
feature set, but it needs to be pretty customizable with css, since I
don't want to change the appearance of the web app for the end users.

Hello jcaesar79,

Are you certain that this menubar does not work with IE 5.0+ ? I can
not pinpoint what would not work, but here is a similar DHTML
navigation system that meets your requirements (IE4+ , NS4.7+, Opera)
:

Dynamic Drive Horizontal Menu System

I didn't want to close this question yet, because I could not
verify/duplicate the fact that the 'older' version does not work with
IE 5.

Please let me know if this is a suitable substitute for your intranet.
It uses highly customizable CSS as requested. Thanks for the
clarification!
