I currently live and work in Chicago's Loop. As of September, I will
begin commuting to the Loop for work up to three times per
month for a week (five nights) at a time. I am looking for lodging
while I'm in
Chicago. My criteria are that the location be: (i) within a 10 minute
walk of the Prudential Center, (ii) within a 10 minute walk of the
Orange line, (iii) very clean, and (iv) relatively inexpensive. The
only facilities I need are a bedroom, bath, and access to a kitchen. I
do not need any amenities (e.g., washer/dryer, cable, telephone,
parking).

I currently rent an apartment in the Columbus Plaza Apartments (at 233
E. Wacker) for $1000/month. This location satisfies all of my criteria
except it is too expensive. I will not be in Chicago for any weekends.

I'd like to find a place that I can pay for the lodging that I
actually use. If I can find such a place, then I'd be interested in
paying up to $60/night.

I'd like at least three locations that would meet my criteria.

You have stated that you are willing to pay up to $60 per night. You
also say that $1000 per month is too expensive. Yet $60 per night is
$1800-$1860 per month.

My question is, what is the limit you are willing to pay per month?

I realized after my initial posting that my math did not take account
of your entire question. You are looking for up to 15 nights per
month, as opposed to 30 or 31 as I had assumed. Still, that means you
would be paying up to $900 per month, which is not much less than
$1000.

Is $900 per month your upper limit?

Thanks for the good question. My primary objective is to find a
location that lets me pay only for the lodging that I actually use.
While I may need up to 15 nights per month during some months, I will
need 5 - 10 in most months. During "normal" months, at $60/night, I
would save at least $400 over my current rent. On those months that I
spend 15 nights, I'll still spend less than my current rent. So, I'm
willing to spend up to $900/month occasionally, but I'm looking for a
situation where I only pay for what I use.
