Hello boringneil,
Great question! It took me a little digging, but I was finally able to
find some information for you.
Los Angeles, California

Review Article by Andrew Pike - June 25, 2002
"I wanted to shoot the film in California because this process of
change is happening the fastest here and it ... This is part of Enids
dilemma to find something authentic to connect with in this modern
monoculture...."

Jefferson Park District
"The crew was filming scenes set in Josh's apartment, taking over a
dilapidated fourplex in Los Angeles' Jefferson Park district,
including the all-important first love scene between Josh and Enid
(Renfro and Birch)...."

Other than the district above, it seems apparent that all filming was
restricted to Los Angeles, in numerous different locations. (This was
Terry Zwigoff's first film, so it probably had a limited budget to
begin with.)
To assist with this answer I searched Google for :
"Ghost World" filmed

"Ghost World" "los angeles" filmed

Thanks for the great question. Should you need further clarification,
do not hesitate to ask. I will do all I can to assist!
