Dear Wonko-ga.

This is a re-posting only for Wonko-ga.

This is a re-posting so you can get paid. Your answer was good. Once
you now do whatever is the next step, I'll rate the answer so you can
get paid.

Thanks

I require the answer to this by 12 noon GMT on Sunday July 14, 2003.

I'm running an IBM ThinkPad T23 with 785Mb RAM and 20G hard drive,
Windows 2000 Professional with Avid Xpress DV 3.0 for video editing.
The system is qualified by Avid. This system should give broadcast
quality results.

It edits beautifully but creating a file to burn and play on a CD or
DVD is where my problem lies. Trying Export Settings (mpeg-1, mpeg-2,
and create DVD) all result in a dialog reporting "process failed -
check console", but there is no console.

One of the Export Settings, QuickTime Movie, has several different
possible format settings. These give results of varying
quality. Those settings which Avid claims to be LEAST lossy are
actually MOST lossy, at least on playback. Resolution is poor, and
the
movie hangs up with hiccups. I would expect that with an Avid
qualified system, and so much RAM, this should not be happening.

As an alternative to the above, I have also used the "Send to" feature
in Avid. This
feature sends a QuickTime reference file to the Cleaner 5EZ program,
and this program will permit export formats mpeg-1, QuickTime CD-ROM,
AVI CD-ROM, and also some choices for streaming. AVI CD-ROM is the
only format that I've been able to get to work and the quality is, as
expected for AVI, not great. I want to make something of broadcast
(or DVD) quality.

Any ideas on what causes these problems?

"Error Message Document

Error: Mpeg Export Failed. Check Console for details. Could not
Initialize Authorscript.

Occurrence:

"Mpeg Export Failed. Check Console for details. Could not Initialize
Authorscript." This error might occur when attempting to export Mpeg
files.

Solution:
This error typically occurs after successfully exporting Mpeg files
previously. Certain files required for the export lose necessary links
and need to be reinstalled for the export to function properly. The
issue is currently being investigated, and as soon as more information
is available it will be posted in the Knowledge Center.

If you get this error when you are attempting to export Mpeg1 or
Mpeg2 files, even if you have successfully exported before, you
have two current workarounds. You can either uninstall then
reinstall the Avid application software, or you can complete the
following instructions:

1. Locate the following five DLL files inside the Avid application
folder:

AuthorScriptLibWin.dll
ltkrn11n.dll
ltimg11n.dll
ltfil11n.dll
LTDIS11n.dll

2. Create a new folder anywhere on the system.

3. Move the five DLLs from the Avid application folder to the new
folder.
Make sure the files are no longer in the main Avid application folder.

4. In the new folder, make copies of all the DLL files. To make the
five
copies all at once, you can shift-click the five DLL files so that
they are
all highlighted at the same time. Then go the Edit menu and choose
Copy.

5. Now paste the copies into the Avid application folder. Directly
after
choosing Edit, Copy in Step 4, go to the main part of the
Avid application folder. Choose Edit, Paste. This will paste the five
copies
into the Avid application folder. Do not move the original files back
into the
Avid application folder; it will not resolve the problem.

Xpress DV, Film Composer NT, Media Composer NT, Symphony"
