May we know your general location? This could assist a Researcher in
ascertaining which birds are normally in your area and/or those who
migrate through it.

Best regards,

A bird that size is relatively large. With your description of the
call and the bar markings, it sounds as if you might have seen a feral
pigeon (soemtimes called a "rock dove"). These birds come in a variety
of colors. Do you think this might be the bird you saw?

Just to reiterate what journalist said, we do need to know where you
saw this bird. I am comfortably familiar with the birds of the Eastern
North America, but if you saw this bird in, say Asia, I won't be able
to help you.

Also, can you add any further description? For example,

Was the beak finch-like or blackbird-like?

Can you tell us the names of some local birds that are roughly the
same size as what you saw?

How was it perched on the tree? Upright on a branch? On the trunk?
head up or head down?

Anything else about its behavior you noticed?

Whatever you can give us would help .. thanks!

In answer to your questions: I saw the bird in my back garden. I live
in Glencoe in Scotland.
It was definitely not a rock dove.
The beak was blackbird-like.
It perched upright on the branch.
There are no local birds of similar size, they are all slightly bigger
or smaller.
It was eating willow leaves,
It wouldnt come down to the birdtable.
Hope this is of some help. Sorry for the delay in answering.
