Hey Snoopydog,

Just a couple of questions:

1. Do you know whether it's "dalmation toadflax", or some other
sub-species?

2. Where are you located; if in the US, there are often programs from
local governments to reimburse you for eradication expense, especially
in the western states. These are usually county-sponsored programs,
so just your county and state would be sufficient.

Thanks,
Kutsavi

Both Dalmatian and yellow toadflax are escaped perennial ornamental
plants that can be extremely invasive, displacing native species.

The most commonly used herbicides are Tordon for both yellow and
Dalmatian toadflax, and Plateau or Telar for Dalmatian toadflax
control

For a discussion of toadflax and its control see this site:
http://www.ext.nodak.edu/extpubs/plantsci/weeds/w1239w.htm
It's based on North Dakota but most of the information pertains
generally.

A Colorado site also provides good information:
Hand-pulling yellow toadflax can be effective for small infestations.
For larger infestations herbicides can be used.
"The optimal time for herbicide application is during the flowering
stage, this is when carbohydrate reserves in the root of the plants
are at their lowest. Herbicides that have been somewhat effective on
yellow toadflax control are picloram (Tordon 22K*), glyphosate
(Roundup**), dicamba (Banvel), and chlorsulfuron (Telar DF). Repeat
applications are necessary to achieve control"
http://www.colostate.edu/Depts/CoopExt/Adams/weed/ytoadflax_mgt.htm

There are several "good" insects that help control toadflax. They may
be purchased for release in your garden.

For example see: http://www.bio-control.com/7i.asp
