Dear bemian-ga;
Thank you for allowing me an opportunity to answer your interesting
question.
While testicular tumors, cysts and other masses are often measured for
the sake of determining their history of development, size of the
abnormality in itself is not indicative of a particular stage of
progression. There is no chart by which medical professionals
compare testicular cyst sizes as a mean of determining their type,
severity, or potential health threat. In leiu of exploratory surgery,
more discriminatory methods such as an ultrasound are often employed
(and necessary)to determine whether the cyst is a solid (hard, dense)
or non-solid (sebaceous cyst - a liquid sac; or lipoma - a fatty
tumor) growth which does tend be an indicator of the type of
abnormality, but as you might expect these cysts vary in shape and
size from one patient to another. In one patient a growth the size of
a pinhead might be quite serious while in another patient a growth
measuring several millimeters in size might be nothing more than an
irritating anomaly.
I consulted my wife, who is familiar with medical jargon and has been
a licensed practical nurse for many years and she offers this advice:
You should consult your medical care specialist for an exact
interpretation of the B9 notation, but in this instance I highly
suspect that the results you have read indicate that your cyst is
probably benign pronounced and commonly jotted down in medical notes
as B9 (a non-malignant, and perhaps non-cancerous mass).
Below you will find that I have carefully defined my search strategy
for you in the event that you need to search for more information. By
following the same type of searches that I did you may be able to
enhance the research I have provided even further. I hope you find
that that my research exceeds your expectations. If you have any
questions about my research please post a clarification request prior
to rating the answer. Otherwise, I welcome your rating and your final
comments and I look forward to working with you again in the near
future. Thank you for bringing your question to us.
