My windows 98se PC suddenly would not go on line as it was blocked by
CyberPatrol.CP has been deleted and that problem is fixed, BUT, in the
process I now have lost or somehow misplaced two VERY important
files/folder. I have lost access to our financial info in Quicken
2003,and also the access is blocked to our scanner which is operated
by Visioneer/Powerpoint along with MANY files stored there. I have
messages that pop-up when starting windows. In window message that
appears "Windows searching for "bagent.exe- and windows searching for
QWDLLS.exe. Please help |

Hi hollydaze,
Both .exe programs are part of Quicken.
Scheduled Updates (bagent.exe)
Quicken Startup (qwdlls.exe)
The easiest thing to try first is to disable both programs in StartUp
by removing the check mark next to each. This should stop Windows from
searching for them when you boot and neither are necessary. (if they
are already disabled, than try enabling them)
Start / Run / type " msconfig " / OK / StartUp
With a little luck, this will solve your problem. However, that is
being optimistic. Chances are your scanner & lost files will require
another solution but it's best to take one step at a time.
Please let me know how that goes along with any other error messages
you are getting.
Thank you,
hummer

I did double check "start-up" as we regularly uncheck un-needed
programs there. Neither bagent.exe or qwdlls.exe were even listed.
Actually, as far as quicken is concerned we have the original software
so I think we will just un-install quicken and then re-install. ?? The
real problem area is with the Visioneer program as we have a lot of
buisiness and one of a kind pictures of our deceased Son in the
Visioneer program. ALSO, I forgot to mention that since this all
sudenly happened our Browser Curser has developed a mind of it's own.
Like-all over the place. Thanks

Hollydaze, have you run a virus scan? Even if you have, it doesn't
hurt to get a "second opinion". My McAfee didn't find a virus we once
had but AVG finally rooted it out (or maybe it was HouseCall).
AVG Virus Scan (free):

I would do a thorough scan before doing anything else. I don't think
I'll be able to help you any more than that but hopefully another
researcher will know what to do. Good luck. hummer

Yes. We have Norton 2003 anti-virus pro-addition. I ran a scan with NO
infected files found. Thanks for your help so far, but I think that it
is deeper than just common "click and fix".
