I would like to get a list of all trade magazines in Eastern Europe. I
will need
all relevant contact information. If you could give me websites and
email addresses as well that would be helpful. Many of these could
befee based subscriptions as well as free local or national
publications. Hopefully many of these will have actual buyers and
sellers of products and services.

Thank You,
Joel

I am sorry for not being more clear. I want trade magazines that have
to do with ALL types of secondhand goods. If it happens to include
goods that are new then that's fine, but my interest is specifically
in secondhand goods. More importantly, I am looking for buyers of
secondhand goods, and to a lesser degree sellers of them. In terms of
finding buyers and sellers that list what they have or what they want
on the internet, I feel like I've covered the bases, however if I
could find additional resources through trade magazines then that
would help significantly.

Thanks,
Joel

Joel,

Since you are looking for BUYERS and SELLERS, more so that magazines
per se, I believe this link will answer your question quite well, for
both Eastern and Western Europe. At the following site, you can
select individual countries in Europe and enter a search term for
applicable traders in goods:

http://web.wlwonline.de/wlwonline/start/en/HR/start.html

I entered the search term "used" and came up with the following
categories in Europe. Clicking on any category (when you are at the
actual site) will lead you directly to company-specific information.
Try clicking on "broking agencies" first, as this will lead you to
companies in a number of countries (both East and West Europe) that
trade in used goods.

Hope this does the trick, but if not, let me know (and good luck with
whatever it is that you're up to!)

That link is nice, but I am looking for trade magazines or
publications. Are there any good trade publications in Eastern Europe
for second hand items?

Clarification of Answer by davidsar-ga on 09 Jun 2002 19:34 PDT
Joel,

Here's some additional info on a number of East European countries --
I've listed publications, as well as some other tidbits I thought
might interest you. HOWEVER, I doubt there is much that I or anyone
else can do to answer your questions in more detail UNLESS you can
narrow down for us the types of markets you are interested in -- do
you really want to know about, say, secondhand markets for airplane
parts, or are you more a clothes/furniture/books kind of a guy. Few
publications seems to focus solely on secondhand materials (except for
the occasional "rare books" magazine), but many publications do have a
secondary focus on used goods within their larger purview. I
understand your interest in keeping your plans proprietary, but we
Answerers need a bit more guidance to be of the most help to you.

Poland has too many publications to list here, but with more direction
as to what markets you are interested in, I might be able to help.

I think that questions asked in this series are too broad to produce
meanigful results. I have tried the prescription suggested in this
answer, (certainly responding properly to a very broad question) on
a specific example,
namely 'import of used textiles tothe CR'. I got less, then I know
is there.

Then I went to a CR search engine and entered : "secondhand (an
americanism used there) textil" and got e.g. :
http://www.aaasecondhandtextil.cz/
(It is in czech of course :-) which lists (with phones of buyers and
sellers) largest textille sorting importers (even with picture:
http://www.naomix.cz/).

The information given previously by someone (that there are no
restriction on import of used goods) is not up-to-date either. Things
are still evolving there
after the BIG-BANG of 1989. Imports (of used cars, used clothing,
used furniture..from Holland, switzerland, germany..) exploded big
just after 1989, and now all that is getting a lot less welcome and
less lucrative and as gap is narowwing and amount of red tape is
larger then it was 5 years ago.

Why this comment? Well, free advice: If you really want to do business
there,
(in EE countries) get a local agent in each. It is not like in US
where one
trade journal covers 50 states. It may not be easy to find a good one,
but it
can make all the difference. And here, as a free bonus for reading
this far, is one trade journal which covers a big portion of EE: It is
 " FOO bussiness journal",
where FOO is Prague, Budapest, Warsawa .. It is in English, probably
owned by some american company, but surely happy to accept your ads
(seeking an agent :-) of course)

owned by: New World Publishing - the company behind the
Budapest, Prague and Warsaw Business Journals; the
Hungary, Czech and Poland A.M. newsletters and many
other periodic publications that cover the entire
spectrum
of business life and economy in the region

and so on .. I hope this is useful.
