I would like to get a list of all trade magazines in Western Europe. I
will need
all relevant contact information. If you could give me websites and
email addresses as well that would be helpful. Many of these could
befee based subscriptions as well as free local or national
publications. Hopefully many of these will have actual buyers and
sellers of products and services.

Thank You,
Joel

Hi Joel!

I started researching this, and was completely overwhelmed by the
incredible number of publications calling themselves "trade
magazines". Virtually every magazine associated with a particular
field or profession calls itself a trade magazine, and I don't think
that's quite what you're looking for.

So I think we need to narrow things down just a little before I
proceed - I want to make sure you get what you're after, and not
things you don't need.

What sort of "trade magazines" are you interested in, specifically?
International Commerce? Industrial and Manufacturing? "Free Trade"
magazines? You mention goods and services - what kind?

Are you interested solely in English language publications, or do you
require foreign language publications as well? My German is fluent,
my French beaucoup d'terrible, but enough to read decently, I can pick
out most Dutch and Italian phrases well enough to find what I need
(thanks to the German and French familiarity), but if we're looking
for Swedish, Norwegian, Danish and the like, we're in trouble.

Please advise.

Here are first ten of about 300 listings I came up with. If they look
OK, let me know and I can get you the rest -- best way would be via
e-mail. Let me know if that's possible.

Cheers!

Clarification of Question by joel1357-ga on 05 Jun 2002 20:56 PDT
I am sorry for not being more clear. I want trade magazines that have
to do with ALL types of secondhand goods. If it happens to include
goods that are new then that's fine, but my interest is specifically
in secondhand goods. More importantly, I am looking for buyers of
secondhand goods, and to a lesser degree sellers of them. In terms of
finding buyers and sellers that list what they have or what they want
on the internet, I feel like I've covered the bases, however if I
could find additional resources through trade magazines then that
would help significantly.

Thanks,
Joel

Hi Joel,

Unless I'm missing something in my searches, I don't think there are
any magazines aimed at buyers (or sellers!) secondhand goods in
Western Europe. I have searched on [ "secondhand goods" magazines
Europe ], [ "collectibles" magazines Europe ], and [ "used goods"
magazines Europe ], among others, and have found nothing resembling a
dedicated magazine for such items. Some magazines discussing
specialized collectibles, such as coins and art are about, but they
appear more involved with discussing items and how to find them.

My host parents in Germany are business owners, so I placed a call to
my Gastpapa in Altena (Westfalen) and asked if he had ever heard of
such a thing. Once he got over the surprise of an early call from me
(it's 6:30AM there, he's getting the shop ready to open), he asked the
shopkeeper next door and my Gastmutti if they had any idea what might
be close. None of the three of them had heard of a magazine of that
sort, and had no idea what might be close in intent. They were unable
to offer any clues as to where else to look.

Between them and my searches, I can only conclude that if such
magazines are in existence, they are obscure, and likely not found on
the 'Net.

I'm sorry I wasn't able to help you with this. Perhaps another
researcher with better leads will be able to find something for you.

Best regards,

missy-ga

Hi Joel!!
I was looking for Trade Magazines according your request very hard.
Seemingly there aren´t Trade Magazines that have to do with ALL types
of second hand goods in Western Europe, or they are not listed in the
Internet.

I could find a directory called EUROPAGES, the European Business
Directory.
http://www.europages.com/en/about/about.html

In this site you can sell your second-hand goods or advertise special
offers in the EuroTradeLeads short term offers. Also you can contact
the buyer via e-mail directly from the website.
EUROPAGES is a business-to-business directory published in six
languages in three media versions: Website (1995), Printed version
(1982) & CD-Rom (1993).
To buy printed and/or CD version of this directory you must visit the
following site:
http://www.europages.com/en/webstore/home.html#

To contact the editor:
Eurédit S.A.
47, rue Louis Blanc
92984 Paris La Défense Cedex (France)
Tel.: + 33 (0) 1 41 16 49 00 - Fax : +33 (0) 1 41 16 49 50
E-mail: comments@europages.com

The direct link inside the EUROPAGES site to see a list second-hand
goods trader companies in Europe is:
http://www.europages.com/cgi/epq.cgi?L=en&T=H&N=0&XHPS.x=1&TP=second+hand#jmpgeo

According with your clarification, I found some websites that allow
you to contact buyers and sellers of second-hand goods in Europe and
all the world.

One of this is TPage
http://dir.tpage.com/

This site bring several services, two of these, combined, will be very
usefull to you.
One is the Tpage Company Directory has over 1,100,000 registered
companies. It is designed to allow to find Companies by Company Name
or Industry sector. Each entry has a brief company description, or
link to a company homepage. This directory provide the database used
in the second tool:
Tsearch is Tpage's exclusive comprehensive B2B World Trade Search
Engine. The search engine is designed to find particular items,
companies, offers to sell and offers to buy, by using keywords.
Now is easy to find second-hands traders, not only in western Europe,
also in every country of the world!!

The only thing you must to do is to visit the following page:
http://search.tpage.com/

In the Keyword field you must write "second hand" or "used" without
quotes, leave T Company Directory, use Default method, select Biz Type
(None or Importer), select the country and choose the number of result
will be showed per page. Then click on the search button.

The results page shows a list of companies that trade used or
second-hands goods in the selected country. Each company name is a
link to the Company Info page.

Another interesting website is:
Teradex Business Directory
http://directory.teradex.com/Business

This page has a Search field, you must only write "second hand" and
click on Search button, you will go to:
http://search.teradex.com/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=%22second+hand%22&ps=20&o=0&m=all&hd=teradex.com&rcat_id=103058

Again you have a list of companies that trade second-hand goods. Many
of this companies are European and all of this have a link to the
Company website.

More links to visit:
ProXchange - Europe's largest professional pre-owned goods market
(Search with used or second hand Keywords)
http://www.proxchange.com/uk/

Europe´s Leading Business Portal (You must pay for become a full
member)
http://www.bizeurope.com/

Vidoc.com (French)
Achat et vente de biens d'équipement neufs et d'occasions, BTP,
transport, levage, machines outils, équipement médical.
http://www.vidoc.com/

Hope this will help you, if not, ask me for clarification.

Hi Joel!!

First that all thank you for rate my answers with five stars.
I am very happy to have filled your requirements.

Thank you Joel.

In order of your request of clarification please tell me what do you

I have my staff giving me recommendations for rating the answers given
on this site, but on a couple of them I feel compelled to rate them
myself. Livioflores-ga your answer was above and beyond and I know
from personal experience that the subject matter asked in this region
is difficult to research, I have tried and failed. Thank you for the
integrity you showed when giving it your all to answer this as well as
possible. I would like to add one other rating to an individual who
has commented/answered many of my questions. If I had the time I would
go and find each and every one and rate them, however I am heading for
the airport and don't have the luxury of doing so. I want to
personally thank missy-ga for her outstanding and exhaustive research
that she has done on each and every question she tackled. I stand up
and applaud your efforts. Thank you for giving me so much effort each
and every time.

Again Thank You,
Joel

Trade magazines are written for a specialized, professional audience.
Magazines of this type
usually focus on one industry, or a specific segment of an industry.
They are often easy to
read and have pictures, but they assume that the reader is familiar
with the field they cover. The articles in these magazines can be
quite technical, but rarely cover a subject in scholarly depth. They
offer valuable information for people in the field they cover, and can
also provide good information to students considering careers in that
field.
