I need some fairly detailed colour reference photos of modern (say in
the last 10 years) Malian soldiers for example infantry, tank troops,
artillery, helicopter troops. Perhaps a Malian policeman or a
gendarme too. If you any reference on Malian railroad personnel that
would also be good. Re pricing it is not just a question of money, I
can pay $200 but only if you can get me the above results. If the
results are good then I can reclaim the money easily. If not I don't
want to spend $200 which I will not be able to reclaim.

Just checking in to see if any of the images I located (below in
Comments) were of value. Any clarification is appreciated.

Thank you for what you've done thus far. I knew it wouldn't be an
easy task. I tried myself to find the info!! I still need some clear
photos of these military guys. It's for a movie that features some
Nigerian military guys but mainly Malian. I have to source the
uniforms and equipment and thus the request for clarity so that what
they are wearing is fairly easily identifiable. I've tried to contact
the US Embasy's military attache in Bamako (Mali). Thus far I've had
no reply. To be honest I don't want to spend another $200 unless I
know I'm gonna get the goods. However if you do happen across some
clearer reference material I'd be grateful to see it. Regards Daryl
Bristow

Daryl:

I understand completely and I wish I could have located more varied
images - I spent an additional two hours researching (seven total) but
no luck. As a wardrobe consultant, you do have to present accurate
costuming for the actors and, unfortunately, Mali's policies seem to
be standing firmly in the way of your goal. Should I run across
anything else, I'll post it here for your consideration.

Best regards,
journalist-ga

Greetings Daryl57:

Well, I've been at it for approximately 5 hours and I have only
discovered 15 images. The taking of photographs of military persons
and objects is forbidden by the Mali government and where I did find
references, the photos seemed to have been removed or I saw "Page Not
Found."

I hope another researcher will be able to assist you - I wish I could
have found more of the military photos you seek.

WHAT I FOUND:

About halfway down the page at
http://www.dtic.mil/armylink/news/May1998/r19980507_update.html is a
photograph of a Mali soldier in uniform being taught firing techniques
by a soldier from the 1st Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group
(Airborne), Fort Bragg, N.C. The photo was taken by Maj. T. McCollum.

Ditto for me...there doesn't appear to be a great deal out there, but
there's certainly some material that may be interest. In addition to
the good job that journalist-ga did, I think you'll find some other
items here:

http://images.google.com/images?sourceid=navclient&q=%28mali+OR+malian%29+%28police+OR+soldier+OR+army+OR+military%29

which is the results of a search on Google Images for: (mali OR
malian) (police OR soldier OR army OR military)

A similar search for images on Altavista also turned up:

Hope these are of some help, and can lead one of the Researchers here
into some more fruitful territory in order to answer your question.
