Dear DXE,

There are some bad news in my answer: it won't be easy to watch the
World Cup in the US, and it is very likely that you'll miss some of
the matches or not see them live.

Setanta Sports would air many (if not all?) of the games, though some
in delay. You could see the whole list, from October 10th onwards:

http://www.setanta.com/sport/Schedules_Northamerica.htm

Setanta is aired mostly (if not solely) at sports bars, which means
that each game has to be viewed in a pub. You could contact them for
further details at:
501 - 2nd Street, Ste. 360
San Francisco, CA 94107
Telephone: 415-546-1022
email: setanta.us@setanta.com

An alternative, if you live in areas close to the Canadian border, is
to try to get CTV (but chances are not too high).

In one of the Rugby discussion groups on Google Groups <
http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&group=rec.sport.rugby.union
> I've found reference, that Fox Sports World (another private cable
provider, but might be more accessible to private users) has purchased
secondary rights, which means they'll play some games in delay of 72
hours (yes, I know that in sports, that is a lot) (Source: Devereux,
"Re: More on TV Coverage"
http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=ZWPHa.132%24904.49%40nwrdny02.gnilink.net&output=gplain
) . In 1999, they aired mostly the *amazing* US team, and the finals
(which means that seeing *real* teams, like the All Blacks depends if
they'll get a draw against the US or would climb to the finals).

So, as I said, watching a rugby match in the civilised US is very
difficult (and expensive) indeed. I really feel for you, if I might
say so.

How did I find this information? I searched Google Groups (I also
searched the "regular" Google, but groups are usually the best source
to get this kind of information) for the words "rugby" "world cup"
and, then, at first I tried "US", "tv" and "coverage", and after
understanding who the main actors are, searching for their names.
Then, I sorted the information by date, instead of by relevance (a
link above the right-hand side of the results) and got the latest,
2003, messages, those that discuss this, and not the last, RWC.

If you need any clarifications on this answer, please contact me. I'd
be pleased to clarify my answer before you rate it.

Pretty disapointing that in this day and age you cant watch it from
your own home over here in the USA, even as a pay per view event, but
if you have a fast internet connection the link below shows games with
a 24 hour delay and I think you can watch on demand so you can choose
when you watch the games after the 24 hour wait, hope this helps.....
