Dear Woerock,

Event planning is a highly desired job, and consequently, a very
competitive field. Many would like to try and work in it, including
many with education in arts, marketing, management, etc. Your
experience might prove beneficial, but you should expect a fierce
competition on each free place.

Firms that specialise just in the facet of event decorating could be
also found:

http://www.poshevent.com/ - Posh Event

http://www.mediadesigngroup.com/ _ Media Design Group

David Beahm Designs - http://www.dbdny.com/

http://users.pipeline.com.au/abuchter/ - Based in Victoria, AU

Many event organisers from the UK, Australia and the US appear in
Google Directory:

http://directory.google.com/Top/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/Business_and_Economy/Event_Planning/Management_Companies/
- Event Planning Management Companies in the UK.

http://directory.google.com/Top/Regional/Oceania/Australia/Business_and_Economy/Event_Planning/
- Event planners in Australia (see also separate states)

http://directory.google.com/Top/Regional/North_America/United_States/Business_and_Economy/Event_Planning/
- Event planners in the US (see also separate states). Another US list
could be found at Business.com
http://www.business.com/directory/advertising_and_marketing/event_and_conference_planning/planning_services/

More directly, Anne Ellington Associates is a recruitment agency for
candidates & employers in the events industry. Her listings of jobs
are mostly in the UK, sometimes also Ireland:
http://www.ae-assocs.com/

In addition, this book (US$29.90)
<http://www.fabjob.com/eventplanner1.asp> is supposed to explain the
secrets of the trade and how to become a professional event planner (I
don't endorse it, since I haven't read the book). Another such book,
for US$12.25, is called "How to Break into the Event Planning
Business" <http://www.dreamjobstogo.com/titles/djtg0028.html>.

Advices for people working in event design could be also found at
rec.arts.theatre.stagecraft , as part of the similarities between this
job and setting up a show:

The most helpful of the list above happened to be to search these
terms in the Google Directory, since the search engine brought lots of
"noise" in the first results.

I hope this answers your question - I provided three lists of top
organisers in these countries. If you need any clarifications on this
answer nevertheless, please contact me before you'll rate the
question.
