I need a pricing history for biotin, natural beta-carotene,
glucosamine, and CoQ10. I need the average selling price history
1998-2003 from the manufacturer (not retail prices - I want raw
material rpice) in $/kg.

Greetings Blucken:

Do you want the yearly pricing from a single company selling those
products or are you looking for the average price of many companies
during those years? Any clarification would be of assistance.

Best regards,
journalist-ga

I am looking for average selling price of the industry for each year -
in some cases though a few suppliers might hold significant share so
their single selling price would be sufficient. There is some
expectation with Chinese suppliers entering the market that selling
prices have been driven down in many vitamin/ nutraceutical product
areas - so the industry price trend is preferred.

Presumably there will be price breaks at various quantity points.
Consequently, there may be different average prices at different
quantities. Is there a particular quantity you're aiming for?

The pricing I am looking for would be at high volume level of
purchases. For example, I would not be interested in lab sample
quantity purchases. The typical customers of these products would be
buying bulk loads so I would like to eliminate any pricing which would
distort the range. In other words an average selling price based on
average volume.

Thanks

Hello there,

I'm curious...have you ever actually seen the type of pricing
information that you're after?

These types of materials aren't generally sold in the open marketplace
... they're typically negotiated on a contract-by-contract basis, and
the prices aren't published anywhere that I'm aware of.

Perhaps if you can point to a source or two where you've seen
bulk-buying price info, it will put a researcher on the right track
for getting you the historical information you want.

Sorry, if I knew where to find the info, I would tell you.

What about finding the average retail prices and applying some sort of
average discount percentage to arrive at wholesale prices?

At retail, these products are formulated with other ingredients so a
price would not be of help. I wouldn't pay $200 for such info as it
was easy to obtain
