Question ID: 231910
I was hoping you could point me in the right direction regarding a
situation at work. Over the past few months I have been a target of
harassment from other supervisors. My belongings have been broken,
things have been stolen, and personal pictures defaced. I brought it
to the attention of my supervisor, who took it up with his colleague
who is the manager of the offenders. Still the harassment did not
stop.

I came into work about 2 weeks ago and found that threatening pictures
had been taken of some dolls I keep in my office, at which point I
went straight to the other Manager and asked for the harassment to
end. He revealed that he was privy to the happenings in my office, and
that he in fact knew the identity of the person who was causing the
harassment, whose name he revealed to me. Despite this the harassment
continued until I finally took it up with my HR Manager and informed
her that I considered this a hostile work environment.

The HR manager immediately approached both Managers, and the
harassment ceased.

All was well until ysterday. Both of the upper level Managers left for
a conference on Monday and today I came into my office to find a
personal picture of mine completely defaced, with words threatening
words scrawled accross the picture. Regardless to say, I have already
spoken to the HR Manager and she has assured me an investigation will
be launched.

My question is, since I have informed all the necessary people, and
one of them was aware of the harassment and those that were
perpetuating it, and did nothing to stop it, is there any further
recourse legally that I can take, whether against individuals, or the
company as a whole? Is there any Oklahoma Law set for this type of
harassment as its not classified as sexual harassment?

I am so sorry that I did not see your question sooner!
Unfortunatly my computer died recently, so my only way to the internet
is through using my husbands computer. So needless to say my computer
time has been very limited due to the fact that he is constantly using
it for online gaming with his work buddies. :-)
If you are still interested in having this question answered, I
would be more than happy to compile a list of information and
resources about the subject for you. Just let me know and I will start
working on it right away.

Once again, my apologies for not seeing this sooner!
Thanks!

Thanks! However it looks like HR has finally responded appropriately
and there will be no need to move forward with legal action.
