Hi kimbo,
Thanks for this techy question and for using Google.

SyncML is the standard/protocol used for the data synchronization.
Read this doc:
]
and this one too:

To find out the details about SyncML protocol, check this site:

Search terms used:
Palm data synchronization standards

I hope this answered your question. Feel free to ask for
clarifications. And don't forget to rate this answer.

I had found SyncML, but it wasn't clear to me that it had really taken
hold. For example, even though Palm, Inc. is always mentioned as a
founder of the SyncML initiative, they no longer are listed as a
member on syncml.org. Also, I couldn't find any mention of SyncML on
the PalmOS site. So did they abandon this initiative, and are they
proposing something else?

Hi,
If you read my earlier answer carefully, I did gave a url which
mention about Palm supporting SyncML.

Check this one out.
[ http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/4/15309.html ] It talks about
how Palm supports SyncML.

Also check this one:

As far as Palm name not available on syncml.org site, I don't have any
idea, but Nokia has mentioned on their site about Palm and SyncML.
Check this one :

Take a look on this pdf file too.

I hope this answers.
Thanks

The problem with all of these articles that mention Palm's support is
that they are old. I know that Palm used to be a supporter of SyncML,
but it appears that their support of it has lapsed. As far as I can
tell, they've gone back on their promise to include it in the next
version of PalmOS.

Anyway, if you don't have any more info, that's OK. Frankly, I'm a
bit surprised that there hasn't been any mention of Palm's shift in
the press.

You are correct kimbo. It seems that earlier Palm was in a team of
SyncML initiative but as of today there is no mention of Palm anywhere
in SyncML. They do say that they have plans to use this technology but
till now there is no product using this. I've sent a mail to a contact
person in Palm to find out about this. If I come to know anything
about this, I'll let you know.

Thanks once again.
