What version is your browser, and is it Internet Explorer or Netscape
Navigator? Perhaps you could run the "Repair Internet Explorer" option
from "Add/Remove Programs" if that's what you use. If not, perhaps you
downloaded something that might have made severe changes to your
system and bungled it. Maybe just the options in your browser are set
to Java off, or your security settings do not permit it (try looking
at this one first).

Windows XP versions prior SP1 doesnīt have Java Virtual Machine
included.
Please do the following:
Install the Service Pack 1 (SP1) ((above 120mb download) not SP1a that
hasnīt Jave included) or go to the following webpage:
"Java Virtual Machine Download Links"
http://java-virtual-machine.net/download.html

Please let me know if it works.

I had a problem loading some of the applications from the intranet and
the message I used to receive is " Needs to update your Windows
Virtual Machine" and when I click on the button it does not go
anywhere. I found two solutions for my problem one is to fix the
problem by going to
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html
and download the WIN XP VM file and you are set to go.
The other solution is to go to
http://channels.netscape.com/ns/browsers/download.jsp
and download Netscape and use it instead of IE.
I hope this can anyone who had the same problem accessing web sites
that uses Java scripts or VM using Windows XP, good luck.
