<Clinical Trials Software vendors top 10 by revenue. Limitations of the list. From the information that is published about company revenues I have been able to compile a list of the top 10 vendors by revenue. However some companies are active in several industry areas with many products whilst others specialise only in clinical trials software. Since many of the smaller companies are privately held, details of revenue are not published. PHT Corporation is a company that would likely feature high up on the list although details of its revenue are not readily available. There has recently been some consolidation in the industry with a number of take-overs and mergers, details of which are given below. 1. Oracle Corp http://www.oracle.com/ Revenue for year ended 31 May 2003 was $4,844 million. http://biz.yahoo.com/e/030624/orcl10-k.html 2. SAS Inc. http://www.sas.com/ Revenue in 2002 was $1.18 billion. It is difficult to calculate how much revenue is from its clinical trials products as the company is active in 11 different industry sectors. http://triangle.bizjournals.com/triangle/stories/2003/03/10/daily4.html 3. PRA International http://www.prainternational.com/ Revenue - $235 million http://www.bio-itworld.com/archive/050903/data.html 4. Phase Forward http://www.phaseforward.com/ Bookings of $80 millionhttp://www.provenda.com/news/pr/2001/011114.htm $106 million in sales http://www.bio-itworld.com/archive/081302/tortured_sidebar_923.html 5. invivo data http://www.invivo-corp.com/01-23-01.htm Revenue in 2002 was $42,088,300 http://biz.yahoo.com/e/020930/safe10-k.html 6. eresearch Technology http://www.ert.com/index.asp $29.4 million in 2002, $20.2 million in 2001. http://www.otcjournal.com/archive/listserv/20021202-1.html 7. Pharsight http://www.pharsight.com/literature/0503_fact_sheet.pdf Revenues for the three months ending 31 march 2003 $3,565,000. Based on these figures revenue is estimated to be approximately $14 million. http://www.hpcwire.com/dsstar/99/0112/100516.html 8. nTouch Research Corporation http://www.ntouchresearch.com/ Revenues in 2002 expected to reach $10 million. http://www.ntouchresearch.com/viewpress.cfm?number=33 9. etrials http://www.etrials.com/ Revenue was $8 million in 2002. A recent merger with Arracel is predicted to generate revenue of $15 million. http://triangle.bizjournals.com/triangle/stories/2003/02/24/story6.html?page=2 10. CRF Box http://www.crfbox.com/ Revenues of $6 million http://www.bio-itworld.com/archive/050903/data.html Other vendors. PHT Corporation this company would probably come fairly high up in the top ten but since it is privately held there are no details of revenue published. It was founded in 1994 and has received $41 million in venture capital financing. http://216.239.39.104/search?q=cache:jOx6ys8bM-4J:www.pharmalive.com/gcrs/pdf/cro_complete.pdf+%22pht+corporation%22+revenue&hl=en&ie=UTF-8 ViPS Biomedical Services http://www.cbtech.com/ CB Technologies recently filed for bankruptcy and was then taken over by ViPS.
