This song is not slow and is not by Celia Cruz.

Hi there!

Are you looking for a copy of this song? And if so, are you looking
specifically for a retail copy, or would an mp3 or live recording
suffice?

Best regards,
Tox-ga

There's a great salsa version of Guantanamera performed by La India,
and you can hear a snippet of it hear (link is towards the bottom of
the page):

http://www.geocities.com/laindiasworld/wavs.html

Celia Cruz is on this cut, but I don't think this is what you meant by
the "Celia Cruz" version of Guantanamera.

If this is NOT what you're looking for, can you say something about
the style of the music you're seeking. Is it Latin? Hip Hop
(yes...there's a hip hop version of Guantanamera)? Something else?

Whatever additional details you can provide would be most helpful to
the researchers in tracking this down.

NOTE TO OTHER RESEARCHERS - This answer was removed at my request and
it may help you in not duplicating my research:

Greetings Jashnimal:

I believe the singer you are seeking is Jeni Fujita who sang *with*
Celia Cruz on the song. From http://www.ascap.com/ear/ear2000.html
comes the following:

"JENI FUJITA - Soon after her transition from the Bay Area to New York
City in 1996, Jeni was enlisted to sing on Wyclef Jean's debut solo
album, The Carnival, and soon wound up as one of the lead singers on
his Grammy-nominated hit version of the Latin classic "Guantanamera."
She also appears extensively on Fugee guitarist John Forte's solo
debut, Poly Sci. Equally informed by hip hop, jazz, folk, R&B and pop,
Jeni's vocals and lyrics give a raw and uncensored perspective into
her soul.

c/o NTZ Management, Inc.
325 W. 38th Street, #308
New York, NY 10013
phone: 212-563-5330"

I then searched her name and discovered:

"With the discovery of Fujita's clear, strong and distinctive voice,
Wyclef Jean, Lauryn Hill and John Forte all commissioned Jeni to sing
on their albums. With the different artists, Jeni performed numerous
times on MTV, Saturday Night Live, The Rosie O' Donnell Show, Regis
and Kelly, Dick Clark's New Yearís Rockin Eve and at Madison Square
Garden. Additionally, she toured with Wyclef Jean and Destiny's Child
on their first tour. The climactic point of this time, though, was the
Grammy nomination for the song "Guantanamera" off the platinum selling
album "The Carnival". Jeni sang the hook on "Guantanamera". This hook
put Jeni Fujita on the map in the recording industry."
From http://www.jenifujita.com/about.html

Her contact information at the same site is:

BIZ: Scott Felcher
phone: 212-695-7800

singer, songwriter
mailto:jeni@jenifujita.com

Teddy "But" Kumpel
producer, songwriter, instruments/programming
mailto:teddybut@earthlink.net

You may purchase the album at Amazon and listen to an excerpt of it
there as well:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000002BV3/qid=1058475694/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_1/102-8156484-2394514?v=glance&s=music&n=507846
You'll see Celia Cruz listed as the singer there but she sang with
Jeni on the song. EOnline lists both the names at
http://www.eonline.com/Facts/Music/0,1095,256059,00.html

I hope this clears up the mystery for you. :)
