I need to know where I can buy the SOLUTION MANUAL for "Mathematical
Statistics: Basic Ideas and Selected Topics, Vol I (2nd Edition)by
Peter J. Bickel, Kjell A. Doksum". I already has the book(mathematical
statistics), but I want the SOLUTION MANUAL for this book.
I need to know the followings:
1. the phone number of the book store(or person) that currently has
and sells this solution manual
2. ISBN number of the solution manual
3. if exist, the web-adress of the book store that currently has this
solution manual
Currently, NEITHER Prentice Hall, Amazon.com, Barns&noble, NOR
Books-a-millon has it, so I think it is out of print. But according to
the customer review in Amazon.com, the solution manual for this book
was published by Marc Sobel and his father, Milton Sobel. Even though
the solution manual for this book is not written by Sobel, if it is
written by reliable persons(ex. professors), I want to have
information(phone number or web-address of bookstore) about it. |

Hi there,
I've talked to the unviersity librarians, secretaries of a few
department and such and then finally the author himself (Dr. Marc
Sobel).
It turns out that there's only 1 copy of this solution manual, typed
but not electronic. He wrote it with his father and originally
intended to publish it but the publisher for the actual textbook
"Mathematical
Statistics: Basic Ideas and Selected Topics, Vol I (2nd Edition)" went
out of business...so the plan never went through. He gave the sole
copy of the solution manual to his father and he says that he will
look for it and email/call me back as soon as he finds it.
I can give you the contact information to Dr. Marc Sobel that I used
to speak to him over the phone. That way, you can leave your phone
number/email with him and he can let you know as soon as he finds the
copy of the solution manual. Along the way you could perhaps ask him
any urgent questions or questions relevant to the textbook/solution
manual.
To reiterate, there is no ISBN number for the solution manual, there
are no stores selling it, it was never published, and there is only
one copy of it (I believethat the person who wrote the review
personally knows the author and was able to see that copy..the
reviewer seems to know quite a bit about the author's life that was
never revealed to public). The only way to obtain the book is by
contacting Dr. Marc Sobel and buying a copy from him once he finds his
original.
If this information, and Dr. Marc Sobel's direct business phone
line/email is acceptable as an answer, please let me know.
