Please find me the the cheapest possible deals on the Life Fitness X9i
Elliptical Cross Trainer. The top 5 or so would be good.

I'd like any shipping charges to be included in the price so I know
what the grand total will be. I live in Los Angeles, CA, so I can
pick up from anywhere within 100 miles or so. It's okay if the
machine is used or refurbished or whatever. Thanks!

Just received the following email response from Fitness Unlimited:
---------------------
You don't need to ship one in as you have a great dealer right there
in town. LA Gym has them in stock and ready to deliver. If you order
one, you would have to put it together yourself, and I do not think
that it is such a good idea as they are a VERY HEAVY!!! Also, mail
order voids the warranty of most high quality fitness equipment,
including Life Fitness.
Call 818-759-4800 and you can find the store nearest you. Just so you
can compair, our sale price is $3799.99 right now, and we charge $100
for delivery and set up.
Thanks,
Robert Swartley

PS: You will love the X9i! I have the same one myself and it is the
best elliptical made!! I will forward your e-mail to Greg Ruffer, the
top manager at LA GYm and have him send you a current sale price.

I am in the San Francisco Bay Area. A local retailer just quoted me a
price of $3599 for the x9i alone. They reduced the price further to
approximately $3400 when I bought it with another piece of equipment
that cost around $1000.

I would guess that you can push your local retailer down further.

Hope this helps.
Subject: What I ended up doing
From: uniace-ga on 23 Jul 2003 00:16 PDT

Well, I was going to go with LA Gym, as recommended above, to avoid
the hassle of shipping and losing the warranty. Luckily, I first
called an apparently independent local place called I found in the
phone book called Fitness Club Warehouse
(http://www.fitnessblowout.com/). They had the Life Fitness 9500HR
Rear Drive elliptical cross trainer, which is the commercial (health
club) version of the X9i and is identical except that you generate the
power for the console by running on it instead of plugging it into the
wall.

They had a newly (2003) remanufactured floor model with a lifetime
warranty on frame, magnetic parts, and labor. I got it for a total of
$3100, including tax and delivery, and it was delivered fully
assembled to my residence that night!

They don't have their full inventory online, which is probably why I
didn't find them that way. The guy there I worked with is called Teo,
and has been in the industry for 28 years. He was very knowledgable
about the equipment and how it compared to other models/brands.
Highly highly recommended to anyone in the L.A. area. If you're
thinking of buying some gym equipment, call these guys first.
