Question ID: 232510
I'm looking for an "independent" or "third-party" list of the top 100
best-selling software applications purchased by businesses. Timeframe
can be either recent or within the last 2 years. I'm defining
independent as an
industry magazine or publication. I'm NOT looking for a list of
best-selling software from someone like Amazon.com, because it
contains too many non-business applications. I have already received
the top 20 list from an earlier question.

This resource looks promising: http://softbase.150m.com/index.html#7
"Top 100 Lists of Software, Shareware, Freeware, Payware and some
Hardware"

It has a number of categories for tracking business-related software.
Furthermore, it has the advantage of including freeware and shareware
programs.

Does this meet your needs sufficiently to qualify as an answer to your
question?

Sincerely,

Wonko

Wonko:

Thanks, I'm taking a look at it. It does look promising, but I'm
having a difficult time determing these two things:

1. Is this just software purchased by businesses? (I'm really trying
to filter out personal purchases because it's not my focus)

2. What is the source of the information?

I'm still looking around at this and will let you know ASAP, most
likely tomorrow, 7/24.

Thanks,

Dawson

Wonko:

After further review, this is not really what I'm looking for. There's
no source and it appears to include both applications purchased by
individuals and by businesses.

Thanks though!

Dawson

After a lengthy search this was about the best info i could find
online. You may have to approach a large retailer of computer software
like Office Works or Harvey Norman (for australia) and try to squeeze
the info out of them.

This is a list from the category Office, Tax & Accounting Software,
listed by most popular items, it will give you a reasonable idea.

Here is the top 50 of online business software downloaded (of course
not necessarily bought)
