Is there some kind of Java based datagrid like the one found in Visual
Studio.Net ASP.Net. One that has similar features and that renders
HTML for JSP or Servlet pages. Should be databound, allow editting
with all the available HTML controls, have a pagable interface,
automatic sorting, and support the jdbc interface. It also should be
cheap (a couple hundred dollars) or preferrably free. Thanks.

Hi gregoryew-ga,

I have something in mind that might meet your needs on this one - can
you give me an example of what you are trying to achieve and I'll will
try to map it to the functionality and see how well it does :)

Hi, thanks for your prompt reply. I am looking to convert an ASP.Net
application over to JSP/Servlets and need to find a component I can
use in Java which functions like a datagrid. It is for a web based
financial web portal. So I need to do things like edit stock
information. As an example I would like have an interface where a
html table is produced of all the stocks in a portfolio and the user
is allowed to edit them and some numeric columns for like short, long,
cover, etc. I would like to have the information to be databound from
a database using something like JDBC. I would like the columns to be
able to have validation built into them. I would also like to be able
to sort on any of the columns by clicking on their titles. If there
are too many rows then I would like to be able to go from page to
page. For example have a series of numbers on the bottom of the table
and the user can click on one of them. Some kind of a mechanism like
that but it does not have to be exactly that. I would also like to be
able to have drop down lists and check boxes in some grids. I know I
can create all this myself but it would take a long time and think
there is probably some kind of a component which does this already
created. I hope this is enough information to go on. Thanks for your
help.
