Hi Tibiaron,
Don't blame yourself. It certainly ain't your age and you're
definitely not losing it -- blame it on the "print to file" option
because it's too small to be noticed. ;-)
Well actually it can get confusing with too many tabs, checkboxes, and
radio buttons to choose from. And then there's the Export option in
the File menu which is also a bit misleading. I just wonder why they
didn't include the rtf and any other file format option in the Export
option to make things easier.
Anyway, I'm so glad my suggestion worked. As per your request, here's
the answer:
I went to the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints website
and read about the PAF 5 software. I found that you can't export it
directly as a file that is editable in MS Word. However, I found an
alternative solution -- it is to print your PAF file to another file
using the "Print to file" option. The process of printing it to file
is similar to just printing with a printer except that no file is
actually printed on paper. Instead, the file is saved to another file
format. In your case, PAF 5 saves it in Rich-text Format (.RTF), which
is the ONLY format created by the "print to file" option based on the
info I read at:
Intellectual Reserve, Inc. - Family Search.org
Files Used in PAF
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/paf/lessons/lesson5/l5_01.htm.
RTF can be opened and edited using MS Word.
Since I don't have the actual program to confirm the process and I'm
not sure how you would like the chart to appear, I can only post this
as a clarification. Since you are a loyal user of this service and I
have helped you once on another question, I trust you'll tell me if
this solves your problem.
I can only refer you to the online reference. Please click on the link
