What are 'turret noodles'? I have run across a recipe for chicken noodle soup that calls for 1 1/2 cups of turret noodles. Have no idea what they are. A brand name or a type of noodle/pasta. |

Hi, Elliott! As a cook and a home pasta maker, I know a lot of different names for pastas. Unfortunately, "turret noodles" is a new one on me. I would suspect, however, that your recipe refers either to "ditali" (like straight macaroni tubes but very short) or "rotelle" (cartwheels), both of which are frequently used in soups. Cartwheels are often available in the supermarket, but you might have to go to an Italian specialty shop for ditali. As with any pasta, your soup will be best if you cook the noodles separately and add them at the last minute, or even serve them seperately and pour the soup over them (they won't absorb as much flavour, but will have a better texture). Happy cooking! -Chromedome |
