I have a velour interior in my Nissan Maxima. A passenger, smoking a
cigarette, burned a small cigarette hole into the seat. Does anyone know a way
for me to repair a small hole like this? Or at least minimize its
appearance so that I can sell the car at an optimum price?

Hi ziledaw,

Pinkfreud's solution sounds great but after reading the instructions
for the kits I've listed below, I would add to clean and remove any
sign of the burn first and spray with a fabric seal afterwards.

There are a variety of kits available with an equal variety of prices
and all require a number of steps to get a good finished look -
basically filling up the hole, curing, and adding fluff to match the
velour look. Below you'll find a list of a few kits that are available
online, but I'd suggest visiting your local auto depot or hardware
store to see what they have on hand to save on shipping.

The basic steps to repair velour:

1. Match colour
2. Clean area
3. Fill hole & cure
4. Apply adhesive and velour fibers, dry
5. Spray to protect and seal

I once repaired a small hole in a velveteen pillow by doing this:

Brush the fabric vigorously with a small brush such as a toothbrush or
lint brush until you've collected a bit of fluff from the fabric.
Place a tiny drop of fabric glue or Elmer's Glue in the hole.
Carefully poke the velvet-fluff into the glue with a toothpick or
other small tool. If done artfully, this creates a little patch which
is virtually indistinguishable from the surrounding fabric. Be sure to
use a very small amount of glue so that the patch will not be stiff
and lumpy.

I can't be certain this will work well on your upholstery, but the
pillow that I repaired looked like new after I used this method.
