Here's what I think of it:
The Vadem Clio was the best in handtop PCs. It was the king in the
short-lived revolution of
not-quite-laptops-but-something-more-than-pdas. Priced at $999, it was
cheap enough to own and take around,
and with Windows CE its "instant on/instant off no bootup time
required" attitude made it the perfect
on-the-go word processing platform with its full keyboard, and its
bright and HUGE LCD display. Now, after
only about 3 years, the price has dropped to a tenth of the former,
with prices on eBay reading the sub-$130
level. This powerful guy supports a PCMCIA networkcard so you can hook
it up to the internet, and if you
have access, you can even put in a wireless ethernet card and walk
around your house/office in tablet mode
using the stylus to browse the web easily. Office CE is fully
compatible with its bigger brother on the
desktops, so you won't have to worrk about conversion and that sort of
thing, and makes a perfect café pc to
play a quick round of Links Pro CE or type up a last minute business
plan on the bus. You were looking for a
good multitasking device, and I think that this is your best bet. I
know I'm going to get one. My only
complaint would be the processor speed, it's not all that hefty, and
webpages take a little time to load up,
but if you're using it for word processing and/or spreadsheeting, or
just typing up e-mails and checking
your e-mail, then this is your device! Otherwise, I would recommend
the higher priced Vadem Clio 1050 (same
shell, same everything, except for a faster processor) which costs
roughly $400-$600. Remember, you can add
as much compact flash RAM as you desire into these guys, and a 128MB
card is pretty cheap these days. I say
hit the eBay and bid on one to win as soon as you get the chance.
