I have a 1920's Mahogoney Dining Roome Suite made by "Henry G. Steul &
Son, Inc., Buffalo, N.Y. It has 6 chairs, table with inserts, serving
buffet, smaller serving buffet and china cabinet. It is in very good
condition. I am trying to find a value for it to sell it.

What genki2 says is true. However, photographs of the entire set,
along with closeups of markings and problem areas for condition will
help a lot. You'll need to post the pics online and then post a link
here. Also, as far as you know, has it ever been refinished?

I'm not a researcher but I just thought I'd ring in here... appraisals
online are difficult because so many factors such as condition need to
be assessed up close. You might have better luck telling where you
live a so a researcher can put you in touch with a qualified appraiser
in your area.

Having said that, there might be more info out there that a researcher
can find online. In a quick search, I noticed this comment from a
Cleveland newspaper. I wouldn't consider offers for less than this
amount without a qualified appraiser seeing the set first.

"a mahogany dining table with a price tag of $3,750 might seem
expensive, until you realize that it's from the Henry Steul company of
Buffalo and usually goes for much more."

here's some more info about Steul

good luck!

Thank you genki2-ga for your info on the furniture manufacturer of my
dining room set. I know it's a valuable set and don't want someone to
steal it from me. I'm sure this is going to take time to and should
have a reputable antique appraiser in my area inspect it.
