When I was using Windows 95 or 98, I had no trouble in saving iamges
downloaded. The opearting system will automatically add the
appropriate file extension. After I switched to Windows XP Home, I
can still save images downloaded as before, except jpgs. Each time I
must manually add the extensin ".jpg". If not, the saved file cannot
be viewed by any browser or applaication, unitl I amended the file
name by ading the extension ".jpg". I don't think this is intended by
XP Home. How can I get rid of this inconvenience?

Question- once you DO add the .jpg extension, does the appropriate
viewer open up the file? I want to know if .jpg files are still
associated with any particular picture viewer.

Also, please let me know of any recent software changes, except
obviously the operating system change. Thanks.

I normally mangae my files in Windows explorer. Before I added the
extension, the saved file is just an ordinary file. When I added the
".jpg" extension, the image immediately appears on the left pane.

I reformat my HD and loaded XO HOme from scratch. I noticed this
problem when I started to download an image for the first time from
the net, before I installed any other applications.
