Hi there,
Here is my analysis of your website from a Google optimization point
of view, starting with page titles.
Page Titles
-----------
In general you should:
- match titles to content. At the very least the words in the title
should appear somewhere else in the page, in plain text.
- use a different title on ech page. Titles carry a lot of weight, and
often duplicated titles just mean an extra ranking opportunity is
lost.
- keep them short and sweet. It is best to target a single phrase that
also includes individual keywords and reads normally.
However:
- titles are not just for search engines, they are what inspires
someone to click on your link in search results, and they are how your
page is described in bookmarks/favorites. Ideally your title will
cater to search engines and humans alike, and typically it's an
arduous exercise.
- from just the search engine angle, your company's name in the title
is a waste of time, because 9 time out of 10 you will rank #1 for your
company name with or without it being there. Yet it's usually very
useful to have your company's name in bookmark/favorites folders. It's
a tough call to make.
I suggest:
It appears you have done your homework and looked up the most searched
for keywords at Overture, WordTracker or somewhere else. That's
excellent. For example, for "new york moving" Overture says these are
the most popular searches from last month:
1388 moving company new york
1380 new york moving
724 new york moving company
299 new york city moving company
289 moving to new york city
56 moving supply new york
50 moving new sale york
42 moving company in new york city
40 new york moving violation
37 new york moving services
35 moving box new york
35 moving and storage in new york
28 moving storage new york
26 moving in new york
http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/
Your current home page title is:
"New York City Moving Company movers new york moving new jersey
movers -AArrowMoving.com"
Google has a decided preference for more concise titles, I try to aim
for between 2-5 words. My suggestion is that you go for:
"New York Moving Company"
It combines "new york moving company" and "new york moving", concisely
describes your company's business, and looks less like spam in search
engine results. Your site currently ranks #24 for "new york moving
company", and using the four word title you might sneak into the top
10. Other factors, mentioned below, will help as well.
Other pages:
estimate-Arrow Movers New York Eviction Movers New York City & New
Jersey
http://www.aarrowmoving.com/estimate.html
As noted above, it is quite important that words and phrases in the
title appear in the body of the page. Ideally you should have one
phrase that appears once in the title, once in a heading and at least
once in regular text.
"Arrow Movers" only appears in the title and a link
"Eviction Movers" only appears in the title and a link
The primary problem is a lack of content. Google loves regular
informative text in properly formed sentences. Your solution is to
make sure that each page has at least a single paragraph of
information, that contains the keywords from your title - see below
about us-New York City Moving Company movers new york moving new
jersey -AArrowmoving.com
http://www.aarrowmoving.com/about.html
The About Us page usually contains information that searchers are
least likely to look for, unless they are looking for your company
specifically. This is the best page for focusing on the name of your
business. It can be the only apge in your site that mentions your name
in the title, and people will still find you via a Google search. I
would change the title to:
"AA Arrow Moving - About Us"
Content
-------
Google thrives on words, sentences and paragraphs. Almost all of your
information pages do this well, but unfortunately the culprit is your
home page. In Google's eyes, the home page is the most important page
of your site. But when Google visits, this is what it sees:
Arrow Movers offer a solution for all your moving needs.
Moving across the street or the country, residential movers
- commercial movers
Arrow Moving Company pledges our commitment to customer service.
That's not a lot for Google to digest.
Everything else is either an image or a link. I suggest that
underneath the images you include a full paragraph of extra
information about your services. Something like this (with appropriate
links), or a re-wording of what appears on the About Us page.
-----------------------------
<h1>AA Arrow Moving - the New York Moving Company</h1>

including Manhattan, Long Island, Connecticut and New Jersey. We also
offer interstate house moving. AA Arrow has a team of 500 professional

-------------------------------
That way, a target keyphrase like "new york moving company" is
appearing in the title, h1 tag and regular text.
Duplication
-----------
These pages are only doing harm to your ranking:
http://aarrowmoving.com/manhattan.html
http://aarrowmoving.com/longisland.html
http://aarrowmoving.com/connecticut.html
http://aarrowmoving.com/newjersey.html
http://aarrowmoving.com/newyork.html
They break one of Google's guidelines:
Don't create multiple pages, subdomains, or domains with substantially
duplicate content."
They have each been given a PageRank of zero because of this, and
could well be the reason why your home page only has a PageRank of 3.
It also doesn't help that you have this other site:
http://www.movingaaa.com/index.html
Inbound Links
-------------
Apart from optimizing your site's content, you should also try and get
more links pointing to your site. If possible, have people link to
your site using a keyphrase rather than your name.
I couldn't find your site in Yahoo's directory - ask yourself if a
10-50% increase in search engine traffic is worth $299 a year to you.
Otherwise, you need to get links from other sites (preferably with a
PR of 4 or higher) pointing to your site. It is very difficult,
especially for commercial enterprises. However, getting just a couple
of quality links could be enough to raise your PR to 4. At present
Google is probably thinking..."they are good enough to be listed in
the Open Directory, but no-one else is linking to them. That's
suspicious. We'll wait and see if anyone does before giving them a
PR4"
One method is to create a lot of content on your specialty topic, and
make it so useful that folk would choose to link to it.
Make sure you avoid any form of link farm, link exchange or reciprocal
linking - Google penalizes sites that do.
Check out the links to your opposition, by entering their URL in the
search box at:
AlltheWeb
http://www.alltheweb.com
...and clicking on "all XX external web pages that link" in the
results. This will give you an indication of the types of site that
are willing to link to yours.
I hope you find my tips useful. If any part of my answer is unclear,
or if you need additional information on this topic, just ask for a
clarification and I'll get back to you.
Best wishes,
