Is there a way to do a "save as" for just one page in a
multiple page Word 2000 document.

Thanks

The simplest way to save a single page as a new document is probably
to copy the the text you want , paste it into a new document and save
that.

So, step-by-step: copy the page you want <highlight the text, Clik
"Edit" in the toolbar and than "Copy">. Then from the top tool bar
click on "File"
then "New". In the window that opens chose "Blank Document" and click
"OK."
Now paste the page you copied onto the new blank page that opens by
clicking "Edit" on the toolbar and choosing "Paste" on the drop-down
menu.
"Save As" your new file name.

Alternatively, you could delete all but the page you want from the
original document and then do a "save as."

Unfortunatly, the page in question is replete with text boxes and
images. If it were simple text, this would not be an issue.

Secondly, there are dozens of surrounding pages that are similarly
configured and cannot be easily removed via highlighting and delete.

In my experience, one can copy both text, text boxes and images to a
new document by fixing the cursor at the beginning of content one
wishes to copy and then doing a <shift + click> at the end of the
content to be selected. And "copy"

Have you tried to copy the page, and it hasn't worked?

Is there something I'm not understanding?

When we copy and paste, the end result is close but not exact (fonts
change, etc.). You did give me an idea though, which got us in the
ballpark. Thanks for your help.

Before you copy to the "new" document, make sure all the settings --
fonts, etc. are the same as in the original rather than your defaults.

It's clumsy, but, if all else fails, make an entire copy of your
original then delete everthing and copy your one page to that "empty"
document. That should preserve the original settings.

Instead of just Pasting the copied text etc into the new document
using Ctrl-V or Edit .. Paste, use Edit .. Paste Special on the menus
and try selecting Formatted Text. This should paste the text in, but
using the formatting of the text as copied rather than the formatting
of the location it's being copied to. May be worth playing with any
other options under Paste Special you have.

If you are having trouble with formatting, there is another approach.
It will take you far longer to read this comment that it will take you
to do the work.

1. Save the document with a second name. Use File, Save As up in the
command line.

2. Go to the top of the page you want to KEEP.

3. Hold down the following keys: [Shift] [Ctrl] [Home]. Be sure to
hit the [Home] key last.

4. You will have highlighted all of the text from the start of the
document up to your page of interest.

5. Hit [Delete]. All the text will go away and your page will be at
the top. Formatting should not change.

6. Go to the bottom of your page of interest. Hold down the
following keys: [Shift] [Ctrl] [End]. Be sure to hit the [End] key
last.

7. You will have highlighted all of the text from the end of your
page of interest to the end of the document.

8. Hit [Delete]. All the text will go away and your page will be the
only one remaining.

9. Save your document.
