We need the best :) collaborative development software. The top 4 to
10 packages would be great. Let me give you an idea of the environment
and later the features. It can be a package product or we can do the
design and some programming. Please rate the results based on these
preferences and list which features are present or missing.
We will have about 15 physical locations (sites) with various Internet
connections. Conceptually, the sites could be required to have DSL
level bandwidth for meeting functions, and modem for document
review/upload.
The sites will have roughly 100 human participants. They will work on
20 projects, each with a lifespan of 1 to 6 years. The projects will
consist of 50 smaller tasks with 5-15 people assigned to each. Each
project and each task should have their own document space.
Functionally, this should be some kind of project management, document
management and collaborative development software. Things like: task
timelines, upload MS-Word documents AND review changes made by
multiple editors, message boards and IRC. The projects will be heavy
on statistical analysis, so it should have a data analysis feature or
be open-source enough so that we can write our own queries and reports
from another database.
Other nice things, but not required:
Shared PowerPoint-like presentation to be used with phone conference.
Linux version. MySQL is great.
Cheap- as always. But not much more than $150k USD for 6 years.
Preferably installed on our servers, but it can be hosted.
Form-base data collection and then data reporting.
Let me know if any clarifications will assist in narrowing the search. |
