I have my windows start bar on the right side of my screen. When I
boot up I always start certain apps up in a certain order so that they
appear in the start bar in the correct order. This makes switching
among apps easier because I don't have to search the list to find the
right app.

However, if an app crashes or if I have to close it for any reason,
the ordering gets all screwed up because starting it again will cause
it to start at the bottom of the list in the start bar.

Is there a start bar replacement (I'm using Win2k) which will allow me
to re-order the entries on the start bar if I don't like the ordering
that they're put there in? Even better, is there one which would allow
me to define rules so that, for instance, Eudora is always ordered
first and Visual Slickedit is always ordered after Eudora, etc.?

Hi mxnmatch-ga!
The program you're looking for is Windows Taskbar Commander, and best
of all, it's freeware. The main drawback is that you will have install
the .NET framework before installing it, but it's available for free,
either from the page of the makers of this program or from the Windows
Update site.

taskbar order

I hope this helps! If this is not what you were looking for, please
request a clarification, I'll try to locate another program or help
you get this one to work.

Best wishes!
