My Father is in a nursing home dyeing from cancer and needs 24 hr. a
day care.
My mother cannot afford to keep him in the nursing home and may have
to bring him home and her being 70 years old she cant take care of him
herself.
Mother is applying for Medicaid but she is afraid that they are going
to turn her down
because they said that she is worth to much. Mother is worth around
$40,000 when Medicaid says that $27,000 is there cut off.
My question is. Is there anything a person can do to force Medicaid
to help or any other Government Program that she can take advantage of
to keep Dad in the nursing home where he belongs. She has talked to
Hospice and they are some help but not what she needs. I know other
people who has a loved one on Medicaid that is worth 10 times what Mom
is and I figured that they either lied to Medicaid or there is a way
to force there hand. Mom is getting desperate now that the dead line
at the nursing home is coming up and is willing to do anything except
lie, that is one thing she will not do. In case you are wondering
about me I have a serious heart problem and cannot lift him.
While I was at Moms house about an hour ago Medicaid called and
wanted to know what size engine was in her car and how big her kitchen
was. Can you believe that they ask questions like that. What does that
have to do with anything?
I thought I would come home and ask the researchers at Google if
they can find a way to keep Dad in the nursing home. I started to tell
Mom that I was going to do this but that would just get her hopes up
and she has been let down to many times over this already. Thankyou
for listening
