In the old days of the parallel printers there was such a thing as the A/B switch for 2 or more computers to share a printer. Is there such a switch for USB printers today? Please no network solutions just a simple USB A/B switch. |

Hello clicker5, I looked around and found these products, though they offer more than just an A/B switch: USB 4-Port Switch for Sharing Devices Share same printer/scanner/usb device with many computers - $26.50 http://www.usbgear.com/4-port-switch-1.html F1U200 - USB 4-Port Switch (F1U200) - $37.95 http://www.usb-2-0.com/f1u200.html EuroNetwork Ltd USB Switches - 2 products at L28.50 and L49.93 (UK pounds) http://www.euronetwork.co.uk/acatalog/USB_Switch.html Compucable - USB-ABCD - 4-Port USB Device Sharing Manual Switch at TigerDirect.com - $24.99 http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?sku=C221-1008 Switch Boxes and More @ cablemax.com Printer switches kvm switches and More! - see the USB sharing devices http://www.cablemax.com/cablemax/switch-boxes.cfm Most of these products are auto-switches, meaning the printer will process the first print job that comes through it, automatically queueing the next. No need for a manually-set switch. I hope these are the products that suit your needs. You might be able to find them in your local computer store as well as online. Google search terms used: usb printer switch I hope this has been a most helpful answer. If you have any problem with it, do please post a Request for Clarification and I shall respond as soon as I can. Thank you. |
