first of all, thanks to whoever posted and answered the original
question. It may become useful to myself. I need to copy a website
that is password protected(i have an account). I will be doing some
repairs on my car tommorrow and the place in which I will be doing the
repairs does not have internet connection. Can this be accomplished
with the software mentioned in Question ID: 233889 ???

Good Day jimmyjrosu,

Due to the many ways to password protect content on a web site, the
answer to your question will differ. For example, some places use
JavaScript for password protection. Because JavaScript was written
with compatibility in mind, anything that cannot execute it will
ignore it. This includes Site Snagger. It does not have that
capability to execute code, so it would walk right in and get you the
pages you require.

Any serious attempt to protect data will keep Site Snagger out. I have
found no password protected web site where Site Snagger would prompt
me for the password in order to retrieve protected information. It
simply skips downloading protected links.

The only alternative I can think of is Netscape. I am using version
7.1 of Netscape, and in it I have a "Save Page" option in the File
menu. Login to the web site using Netscape 7.1, and save page. You
will not have the option of downloading multiple layers of pages, so
you would have to repeat the process for every page you want. Still,
all diagrams, tables, etc. would be downloaded together with the index
file vs. just getting the index file.

Internet Explorer is quite outdated in many features and security, and
lacks many great options. Microsoft released Internet Explorer to get
Netscape off the main stage, and now that the job is done they have
abandoned the project for the most part. Unfortunately Netscape is a
pretty large download if you are on dial up. You will find a copy of
Netscape at the following URL:

http://channels.netscape.com/ns/browsers/download.jsp

The file you download will be small, but upon running it more files
will be downloaded and installed.

I hope this helps you get your job done! Please ask for a
clarification if you require further assistance.

There was no search strategy used. All information is based on my own
experience gathered over many years in many places.

Thank you for your question.

Good Day jimmyjrosu,

I have downloaded Teleporter Pro that andyt-ga mentioned and tried it.
This program does allow for entering a password and ID in the same
location where specify the web site to download. I tried downloading
the Google Answers pages past the login point, and was able to do so
successfully.

It looks like a good program for you to try on the site you require.
As long as the web site you are accessing doesn't do anything very
unusual for their password protection, I would say things will work
just fine.

I like teleport pro, but there's *many* other programs out there that
allow you to 'suck' off the informaiton off a webpage for later
viewing.

Teleport pro can be downloaded here:

FYI, Internet Explorer also has the function to save a single webpage
(as does every other browser I can think of.)
