Hi golfman-ga,
Giving a definitive answer to your question is impossible without
more information on your operating environment, and the application
you were trying to install. However, my initial searches show that
this error could be caused by a Nimda virus infection.
For more information on Nimda, see:
     - Network Associates Inc: W32/Nimda.gen@MM
       (http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_99209.htm)

You should try scanning your computer with one of the many free
online virus scanners available. Here is a small list:
     - Panda Antivirus ActiveScan
       (http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/)
     - Trend Micro Housecall
       (http://housecall.antivirus.com/)
     - Mcafee Freescan
       (http://www.mcafee.com/myapps/mfs/)

You can also try scanning your system with one of the many Nimda
removal tools available on the net. The makers of F-Secure Antivirus
have one available at:
     - F-Secure Nimda Information Center
       (http://www.f-secure.com/nimda/nimda.shtml)

Please try out the above suggestions, and post the results here.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Theta-ga

I have Windows 98. I am trying to install Norton System Works and
Photo Explosion. I was also getting error messages when using Word
about not haveing enough memory. My disk shows about 75% free space.
Hope this helps.

"Not having enough memory" doesn't refer to the hard disk memory, but
the RAM. To see this, under Windows Explorer, click on Help, then
About Windows, then you will see how much memory is free.
