i would like to know how massachusetts compared to other states
regarding its bar passage rate for the february 2003 bar exam. i
believe that mass. had a 48 percent passage rate, so i'm wondering how
that would rank compared to other states (i.e. low or high)?

I can provide you with a link to a site with charts showing
state-by-state bar exam passage rates for all 50 states, D.C., Puerto
Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands for each year from 1981-2002. These
charts break down the results for the standard February and July test
dates and show the number of applicants as well as the passage rates
for each year.

For 2002, the passage rate for test-takers in Massachusetts was 45% in
February, 73% in July and 66% overall.

Statistics for the February 2003 test have not yet been reported by
this authoritative source, but you could certainly make useful
comparisons between Massachusetts and other states with the alomst
current (2002) information and the historical information that is
available on this site.

Please let me know if this information would be a completely
satisfactory response. If it is, I will post it as an answer.
