Hello Ray,
Here are some cases i found of automobiles that got struck by
lightning:

"OMAHA -- A strong line of thunderstorms moved through Central and
eastern Nebraska on Sunday, causing 11 counties to be placed under
tornado warnings.

Maybe even luckier were two severe weather spotters in Platte County
whose car was hit by lightning, said Emergency Management Director Tim
Hofbauer.
Other than being a little shaken up, neither spotter was injured, he
said.
Their vehicle did not fare as well, however, as all four tires were
blown out and "the antenna was shortened," Hofbauer said."

"Two golfers were struck by lightning in a golf cart. They were
hospitalized in critical condition.

intersection of Georgia Highway 19 and I-16. The driver of the wrecker
was slightly injured from the lightning strike. The van received only
minor paint damage from the lightning strike.
   
A lightning strike in Bonita Springs hit a car antenna, melting it and
blowing a hole in the car. Three occupants of the car were uninjured.
Numerous other lightning strikes started brush fires.

A women was struck by lightning as she reached from her van to an
automatic teller machine. The ATM was severely damaged.

struck by lightning. Cases have been reported of total destruction of
vehicle wiring, and associated electrical and electronic systems.
Cases from police departments report bad burns to the hands and mouth
where officers were using radio microphones when their vehicles were
struck. Cases describe total blow-out of all four tires in passenger
cars. A video in our NLSI library shows a station wagon being struck
by lightning in a heavy rain storm, with no damage whatsoever
occurring."
