Well, it seems that the Mini Cooper's boot has a somewhat irregular
shape.

One Mini owner measured the dimensions, and thus described his
findings:

'At the base it is 36" wide by 14" long.
The height with the shelf in place is 22", however, at 12.5" up, the
width goes from 36" to 33" for some unknown reason.
Under the shelf, the length is 11" and the width is still 33".
...it is like a truncated pyramid, the length is constantly changing
from 14" to 11".'
