Hello Rainbow,

Thank you for the thorough list of priducts and their key purchasing
decision making enablers.

Though, my needs are not for purchasing, mine are for technical
development in the field.

If you check the sites, you'll see that some of the required elements
of information requested in the original question are not present.
Unless I've missed the information, in which case I would appreciate
pointing it out to me.

Would you please give this question another try? :-)

Hi Lizardnation,

I apologize if the information I gave you did not meet the exact
criteria you requested. After searching more for the information you
want, I came up with more sites that may be of help.

At this site, there are various manufacturers. On the right hand you
click on the one of interest. For example, click on ericcson and page
of models will show. Click on the model of your choice. At the bottom
of that page there is specifications. Clicking there gives you the
specifications and features of that particular phone.
"Mobile Phone Buyers Guide "

Here is a very informative site. numerous mobile brands are listed.
Click on the one of interest and then the model. Specifications will
be displayed.
"Mobile World"

This site compares many mobile phones and the available
specifications. The left menu displays the capabilites of mobile
phones. When you click there, it shows which phones have the features.
Although not in table form, it does specify which mobiles and models
are available with the respective features.
"Wireless Devices Information"

Here, many brands are found and the specifications of the available
models.
"Let's Talk"

This site gives you the ability to compare any two phones of your
choice. With the drop-down menu, you can choose various brands and
models to compare.
"Australian On-line Mobile Phone Magazine"
At the menu on the left, when going to manufacturers, the various
brands are displayed and their corresponding websites.

I hope this information has helped you further in your request. If
more clarification is needed, please don't hesitate to ask.

Hello Rainbow,

Let me put it this way, what I need out of the 12 point list, 9 of
which are required, you've managed to put a lot of effrot into
answering 1, 2, 3, 6 and 9. 4, 5, 7 and 8 are missing requirements.

For the effort on collecting the consumer level information I will
rate it at three stars, if you find that not to be fair then please
clarify why, otherwise a catchup chance for the above information to
be collected is now available till you tell me you've given up. :-)

Hi Lizardnation...again :-)

I did some more research and found a little bit more information. Not
sure if this will help you but I think it's the closest site that
lists all the specifications you require.

"1st Stop 4 Mobiles"

On the lefthand menu under manufacturers, it lists the most popular
brands of mobile phones. Clicking on each will give you the
specifications of some of the models of that particular brand.
Hopefully you will find most of the capabilities you requested.

I apologize if this doesn't help any more than any of the other sites
I have given you. I am fully aware of your situation here and will
appreciate whatever rating you believe I have earned. "Giving up" is
not easy for me but I admit not being able to find any more
information that you have requested. I also appreciate the research
seedy and the other commentors have contributed. Thanks all.

Best of luck,
rainbow-ga

Hello Rainbow,

Soright, one can't win'em all. :-)

You've given it a good effort to get a sizable portion of the required
information and I know they're not easy to get.

Hi Lizardnation,

I apologize for not being able to have done more for you. If I do find
more information for you, I will post here as a comment.

The answer missed required items number 4, 5, 7 and 8. out of the 9
required items. The information which was supplied needed effort to
get to, though one can't be judged for that percentage at higher than
3 out of 5 stars.

194 phones reviewed at:

http://asia.cnet.com/reviews/handphones/productlist/0,39000745,39000745t-39000063c-20000066q,00.htm?SEARCH_VAL%5B%5D=any&ATTRIB_IDS%5B%5D=38000021&SUB_ATTRIB_IDS%5B%5D=1&SEARCH_VAL%5B%5D=any&ATTRIB_IDS%5B%5D=38000022&SUB_ATTRIB_IDS%5B%5D=1&SEARCH_VAL%5B%5D=any&ATTRIB_IDS%5B%5D=38000025&SUB_ATTRIB_IDS%5B%5D=1

You have to click on each phone and then "complete specs" at the
bottom, but at least it's table format.

Hello Morris,

Thanks for the freebie. :-)

I'll check it out. Though I still stand by my offer for a compiled
table of the above requirement as the information on CNet doesn't
specify if it has Unicode and if it can compose Unicode.

As to when they have EMS/MMS = Yes or No, does that mean for both or
either of the features? Some of the phones I checked have empty fields
on the SMS bit as well.

Don't get me wrong, I really appreciate the link :-).

Here are two spreadsheets I found. If I were looking to purchase
phones I would want a single spreadsheet. However, It does not look
like anyone has a single spreadsheet with everything on it.

Sony-erricson, nokia, samsung, motorolla

More Nokia Phones

It's a shame the companies don't make technical info like this more
easily availible to customers.

Lizardnation:

I would be glad to supplement the answer information given by rainbow
and the commenters by arranging them in chart form beyond the
spreadsheet links given but I can't seem to find the information
requested regarding UNICODE #4 & 5 or the information requested
regarding ring tones/SMS #7 or #8 in any of the information shown in
either the spreadsheets or product specifications. Do you have any
hints as to which headers shown in the spreadsheets (listed below)
have the information you requested?? GA would like to satisfy your
complete request in the format you requested (the tabulation should be
relatively easy if we could find the Unicode or SMS ringtone
information)....Can you give us any leads as to interpreting the
missing infomation??

Thank you for any leads you could provide.

Helo Seedy,

If the information was there, I wouldn't have fussed over it not being
in tabular format. :-)

I'll be satisfied with the information in any format as I've
discovered it is relatively difficult to locate and I'm sure Rainbow
gave it a good amount of effort.

So, my issue is not lack of formating, it's lack of information quoted
in the original question under the numbers mentioned.

I'll keep my eyes open for possible sources, though I'm not as good as
the people here in locating resources on the net. :-)

Appreciate your comment and would look forward to a response from you
and Rainbow as to how we should proceed.

Hello Seedy,

No, these headers do not cover Unicode capabilities, sending or
receiving.

But I've noticed that they do answer #6 and #9. as required elements,
so the list now is shortened. :-) Thanks for pointing it out. I
tried to get to that excel sheet via the supplied URL and it fails, I
went and edited it to shorten it to:
http://www.nwfusion.com/reviews/2002/CTIAphonechart2.xls and it worked
and I found the EMS and MMS fields answered in williamclark's comment.

All I'm missing now is the Ringtone via SMS, Ringtone via SMS format,
Unicode receive and Unicode send. :-)

Hello williamclark,

Thanks for the list in tabular form, it sure came in useful and have a
few features pinned which were not available on other lists. :-)
