Question ID: 236637
Is there a motherboard that supports dual Pentium 4's ?

If they don't exist, or are too pricey...
What's the easiest way to set up 2 motherboards to accomplish the same thing?

Hello Floridad,

Hmm. As Mathtalk notes, a "Pentium IV" does not support dual
processing. However, there is an item referred to as
  P4 Xeon
or
  P4 Xeon MP
and other similar ways that provide either dual processing or more (MP
version). A complete dual P4 Xeon system runs about $350 a month (at a
web hosting site) or about $3000 to purchase. The motherboards are
basically server class - very high performance with a price to match.

Would you be interested in such an answer?

According to Intel the Pentium 4 processors do not support
dual-processing capabilities:

Having two motherboards would be like having two separate,
non-cooperating computers without any shared memory, so this is not
truly an alternative to a dual CPU computer.

If you want dual processing in a high-end Intel processor, you need
the Intel Xeon line of CPUs instead.

You just need a Pentium 4 with HyperThreading (HT), which simulates 2
CPUs and a mainboard supporting this tech. I'd prefer motherboards
with Intel chipset.
