Northeast Savings (once based in Hartford, CT) was merged into Shawmut Bank in 1995. Shawmut was later merged into Fleet Financial Group (www.fleet.com). Also, the Commonwealth of MA has contracted (http://www.state.ma.us/treasury/Abp.htm) with missingmoney.com to allow users to search for Commonwealth held abandoned property (like old bank accounts). Try missingmoney.com and fleet.com. An account number will make the search of Fleet's records go quicker than without, but will take so time. Bonne Chance. |
