Question ID: 236879
I'm looking for the name/artist of a song that came out in 2003. It's
vocals by a woman with background rock music. I know that it was used
in the previews for a movie that came out this year, but I don't know
which one. It starts off in the soprano range with "How can I....."
The refain is something like: "Wake me up in time,Wake me up in
time, call my name and save me from......." (A guy says wake me up in
time each time after the girl says it. It's played on both the "hot
music" radio channels, and the mix of the 80,90,today channels. I
really want to see if that woman sings any other songs, her voice is
beautiful.

Dear Watyer,

This is a beautiful song indeed, called "Bring me to Life", and sung
by a band from Arkansas called Evanescence. The song appears in their
debut album "Fallen" (Amazon link:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000089RVX/ltc-political/102-2988854-7180969),
as well as in the soundtrack of the film "Daredevil" (Amazon Link:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000084TTD/ltc-political/102-2988854-7180969
- by no way am I endorsing Amazon - I just provide the link so you
could view the album - buy it where you want...). You could hear the
song (and see its Video clip) at the MTV site:
http://www.mtv.com/bands/az/evanescence/artist.jhtml

Many sites have the lyrics, for example
http://top40-charts.com/songs/lyrics.php?sid=6129&string=Bring%20Me%20To%20Life

The vocalist is called Amy Lee and Aidin Vaziri, Amazon's Music
Editor, writes about her that "Vocalist Amy Lee has the kind of voice
that can cause weeks of insomnia, but on songs like "Tourniquet" and
"Haunted" she belies the music’s sinister mood with evenhanded [sic.]
spirituality, thoughtfully letting some light shine through the
tempest" (Source: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000089RVX/102-2988854-7180969?v=glance&vi=reviews).
She's 21 years old, from a Little Rock, Arkansas and this is her
first major project.

I hope this answered your question. I began to search for the song the
regular way (which is typing in parts of the lyrics into Google and
hoping some fan had the lyrics in their site), but then I could hear
the song in my head and from there, I just knew what to look for. She
does have a remarkable voice!

If you need any further clarification on this answer, please let me
know. I'd be pleased to clarify my answer before you rate it.

Way more info than I asked for, but absolutely wonderful!!! I'm happy
to see I'm not alone in loving her voice.
