Are there any basic wireline POS terminals with an internal modem,
credit card swipe, and keypad that are less expensive than the Zon Jr
XL($135) and the Tranz 330 (~$250)? (without printers)

Here you go!  This sounds perfect.  A Tranz 330 for $99.99.  I hope
this is inexpensive enough for you.  I didn't see anything that meets
your specifications for under a $100 really, but I can keep looking if
you'd like to try for something cheaper.

Please keep in mind that my previous answer regarding TCL only applies
on VeriFone products.  Other manufacturers use different languages,
though the abilities of other products would be the same as the
VeriFone products, I'm sure.

Also, in case you're edgy about purchasing refurbished products, I
would just like to state that I personally prefer to purchase such
products.  You get the same quality for a much cheaper price.

I'm sorry, but I was unable to find any products that matched your
specifications for a lower price.  There were several lower priced
"MiniMag" scanners, but these did not include a keypad or screen.

I would recommend going with the first store that offered the unit for
