I was recently pulled over for speeding in Massachusetts, clocked at
80+mph in a 65 . My insurance is in New York State, while I'm licensed
in Pennsylvania. I have no problems paying the fine, since I was
speeding, but I'm concerned about my insurance rates going up and
getting points on my license. I have heard that some states do not
report speeding convictions to other states, but I haven't been able
to find a resource that tells me what states Massachusetts reports to,
and the consequences of pleading guilty to 15+ mph over the speed
limit. As of now, the only thing that I've been able to find (as a
result of another Google Answer) is that Massachusetts is not a member
of the Drivers License Compact (DLC), but is a member of the
Non-resident Violator Compact(NRVC). However, the DLC doesn't really
seem to apply, and the NRVC only seems to apply if a person does not
meet the terms of the citation.

Ideally, what I'm looking for is twofold: First, I'd like to know if
Massachusetts reports speeding citations to neighboring states
(specifically, NY and PA), and second, I'd like to find out the
penalties for pleading guilty to 15+ mph over the limit.

Thanks!

Mass ticket system will report to the state that issued the plates on
the car at the time the ticket was issued. This may take some time to
get to where you may hear about it. If your personel license number
and state are recorded also , that state will also be notified. Some
times the system used by the states gets so involved nothing happens,
but.....
