Markabe, this is really an easy answer (although not quite what you
were seeking, methinks): Put yourself in their position; what would
you want from your son? Your answer is exactly what you should do :)

Markabe,

I'm a mother in my fifties with one son in his twenties and another in
his thirties. What I want from them is what they give me: each is
leading his life well, doing useful work, trying to learn and improve,
showing me in myriad ways small and large that, amongst all the
mistakes I made, I did somehow also manage to do a few things right,
to have a positive influence in their lives, to teach them how to
learn and love, hah! to pass along a respect for resourcefulness, a
trait they both have in abundance, much to my grateful and often
surprised delight. They call me, they share their lives with me, they
let me share mine with them, they let me see them live and grow. They
love me and they accept my love. It's more than enough, and it gives
me great joy. Do the same and your parents will be grateful for having
raised such a fine son, though they will never love you more than they
already do.

Best wishes,
--Byrd
